Parliament's own TV, training institute for legislators proposed
The establishment of an independent TV channel has been approved for the live coverage of proceedings of the Senate and National and provincial assemblies. This was decided at the conclusion of 15th Speakers' Conference in Quetta Monday.

Punjab Agriculture Minister Muhammad Arshad Khan Lodhi has taken notice of arrest of two newsmen by the police in a fake case and taking them to the dera of their opponents.

Protest against burning of newspaper copies
Local journalists took out a protest rally against the torching of the copies of various newspapers on Monday. The protesters marched through different roads. They talked to the DSP who assured them of action against the accused.

PTV sails into PFF Cup final

Journalism course concludes
Two week journalism course featuring lessons on press releases and committee summations concludes
A twoweek course on the fundamentals of journalism, participated by 21 officers of the National Assembly, including deputy secretaries of standing committees and research offices, concluded at the Information Services Academy on Saturday.

These channels have set a new tradition of bold and open dialogue which was hardly conceivable during the reign of the state-run channels. Freedom of expression
The alarming increase in the harassment and victimization of journalists trying to perform their professional duty not only contradicts the government claim of having allowed the media unprecedented freedom of expression, but also does not bode well for the development of investigative journalism.

Training journalists
Considering the cardinal role of the media, there is a growing need to improve work ethics amongst journalist and to imbue professionalism in them. Unfortunately the press clubs in our country claim only to be champions of the rights of journalists but they do less to contribute to their professional growth.

BBC on FM
BBC Radio runs 24 hours a day. It is available in various media outlets in India , on FM in Bangladesh and Singapore . BBC TV is available here 24 hours a day. So why not BBC FM? The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has a very strange rule that FM stations cannot broadcast foreign radio stations. On the other hand, TV offers innumerable foreign stations to watch.
