The Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE) strongly condemned the rising wave of murder and violence against journalists and said that a meeting of the CPNE would be held in the second week of July to hold a comprehensive dialogue with all stake holders.

The Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors Saturday strongly condemned the rising wave of murder and violence against journalists and most deplorable attempts at denying pressmen the right to obtain information and report all events and development in the correct perspective serving the cause of democracy, good governance and credibility. Meeting under the Chairmanship of CPNE President Arif Nizami, who flew in from Lahore to attend this emergent meeting, the CPNE member Editors declared their total commitment to the defence of press freedom and the right to information.

NA body for transparency in PTV recruitments
The National Assembly Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Saturday directed the Ministry of Information to complete the process of recruitment and promotions in Pakistan television corporation (Ptv) and all its subsidiaries in a transparent manner, and take steps for including the proceedings of standing committee meetings in main bulletin of 2100 hrs.

FM LISTENING: Medical showcase on FM 100
A little awareness and guidance can do a lot. That is what I concluded last Friday after listening to a health programme on FM 100 Pakistan. Dr Samina Johar from the Chinese Expert Hospital was the guest in the programme, and she discussed Pyle and Hepatitis, the most common and hazardous diseases. The information she imparted about the diseases was useful and thought provoking.
