MUJ condemns arrest of journalists

The Multan Union of Journalist (MUJ) has strongly condemned the arrest of two journalists by the Sahiwal police and appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Ch Pervez Elahi to take action against the policemen who had instituted fake cases against them and taken them to the ‘dera' of an influential landlord where they were humiliated and tortured.

Media can play vital role in protecting people rights: minister

Federal Minister for Textile Mushtaq Cheema Tuesday said that media could play a vital role in protecting rights of the people and the national interests with knowledge-based reporting on important issues such as trade and commerce. He was speaking at the concluding session of a two-day media workshop on 'International Trade and Human Development', organised by the Journalists for Democracy and Human Rights (JDHR) in collaboration with TIHP/UNDP and the Ministry of Commerce.
