Mr. Amir Mir, I wish to congratulate you on refusing to accept the APNS award from military dictator General Musharraf on principled grounds. I saw that you wrote in your letter to the APNS President when declining the award presentation by the military ruler that the general “had violated the Constitution and has no respect for the supreme law of the land”.

Pakistan on Saturday banned cinemas from showing the movie “The Da Vinci Code” following protests by the country's minority Christian community.

FM Listening: Radio inactive

I haven't actually listened to the radio since returning to Islamabad from Toronto six months ago. My friends had told me that there were four main stations: CITY 89, FM 91, FM 99, and HUM FM 106.1. Tuning in to CITY 89, I was surprised that they were playing a terrible song; it sounded like a man howling in pain. I was forced to skip to FM 91.

Radio Pakistan news editor retires

Radio Pakistan News Editor Muhammad Arshad proceeded on retirement here Saturday. The news section of Radio Pakistan arranged a farewell dinner in honour of Muhammad Arshad which was attended by Station Director Manzoor Ali Tanha, Manager Engineering Jamshed Khan, Account Officer Syed Ahmed Ansari and subeditors, Majid Ali Mehmood, Ghulam Abbas and Ayesha Iftikhar.
