Quake rumours shake up bankers, media
Rumours of a light earthquake at 3:30pm on Saturday caused people working at national and international banks, television channels and newspapers on II Chundrigar Road to panic even though the Pakistan’s Metrological Department has bluntly rejected the news. “It is nothing than a rumour,” the department’s director general, Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman Chaudhry told Daily Times. “We have not received any such data in any of our offices throughout the country. Developmental work on Chundrigar Road is at its peak, and perhaps some cranes have pulled out some hard objects stuck in the ground near a building, fuelling the rumours of the jolts,” he speculated.

However, if we look around we can find many such examples where we can see how a slight alteration in any thing or place has added/given new meaning to it.

The members of the Committee expressed the view that the mobile phone companies were fleecing the nation of billion of rupees and that increase in the use of mobile phones was one of the main reasons showing an upward trend in the rate of crimes in the country including the terrorist activities. The representative of NADRA informed the committee that online verification system had already been introduced by NADRA and that cellular companies could benefit from this scheme. He further informed the committee that as per their record 20.1 million connections had so far been issued by various mobile companies out of which verification of 17.25 million connections had been carried out by these companies.
