Pemra seizes illegal FM radio station
An inspection team of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) along with local police confiscated equipment of an illegal FM radio station from a Islamic seminary in the Jehangira district of Nowshera on Monday.

Pemra again warns cable operators
The 19th meeting of the council of complaints (CoC), Pemra, Punjab, was held here Tuesday at the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority's regional offices.The meeting was attended by Nosheena Saleem, member and Kamaluddin Tipu, regional general manager/secretary CoC, PEMRA, Punjab, and Aftab Ahmed Vohra, vice-president of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry who represented the LCCI chief.

Al Jazeera to air documentary on missing Pakistanis
Al-Jazeera television will air a documentary this week that looks at the fate of Pakistanis who went missing after going to Afghanistan to fight US forces following September 11.

Al-Jazeera to air film on missing Pakistanis
Al-Jazeera television will telecast a 40 minutes documentary “Conspiracy of Silence” on Friday.
The documentary will reveal misery of the families members who have been missing ever since they left for Afghanistan after 9/11, says a press release.

Sangi's murder condemned
District Council Larkana in its special session held Tuesday condemned the murder of photojournalist Munir Ahmed Sangi. The session was chaired by its Convener Engineer Munawwar Ali Abro who is also the District Naib Nazim.

The District Council, in a special session held here on Tuesday, condemned the recent murder of photojournalist Munir Ahmed Sangi amid noisy scenes. The council demanded a probe by a high court judge into the killing. Members from the Awam Dost Panel (ADP) and the SNF requisitioned the session to discuss Sangi's murder.

FM Listening: Lunchtime frequencies
Started with Radio 91, where a show called ‘Funky Monday' was being introduced. The RJs introduced the topic: how male/female relationships are always misunderstood to be romantic. I had just written on this topic, so I was interested to hear what others had to say. However, they introduced the first song before any callers, which was Nelly Furtado's ‘Promiscuous.'

Punjab University FM radio special transmission
Punjab University Radio FM 104.6 will launch its special transmissions of six hours on May 05, on the occasion of its second two-day anniversary celebrations, in the Institute of Communication Studies (ICS). ICS Director Dr Mughees Uddin Sheikh has said that the two-day transmissions will continue from 2pm to 8pm, adding new several programmes to make the transmissions more interesting for the listeners.

Lawmakers Form Press Freedom Caucus
A group of U.S. senators and house representatives have formed a bipartisan caucus to monitor press freedom violations around the world and to lobby in defence of persecuted journalists. Co-chaired by Senators Chris Dodd and Richard Lugar, and Representatives Adam Schiff and Mike Pence, the Congressional Caucus for the Freedom of the Press serves as a mechanism for drawing greater attention to attacks on journalists and media censorship.

India to launch international TV channel
Indian government is planning to launch a new TV channel named “Channel Asia”, an answer to the CNN and the BBC in the international market. An “approach paper” prepared for the launch of the proposed “Channel Asia” says the trust would ensure that it remains independent and completely free from the government controls.
