  Media stopped from covering APC
  The representatives of the print and electronic media, who were formally invited to cover the all-parties conference on “Inter-active Dialogue on Provincial Autonomy” organised by the Sindh government on Wednesday in a local hotel were stopped from attending the conference after initial remarks by Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim.

  Taliban charge hostage Italian journalist with spying
  A senior Taliban commander in Afghanistan has charged an abducted Italian journalist with spying for British forces in Afghanistan. In a statement recorded to various media organisations in Afghanistan and Pakistan via satellite phone, Taliban Commander Mullah Dadullah said that Daniele Mastrogiacomo, reporter for La Repubblica newspaper, and his Afghan companion Ajmal were “spying on the Taliban in the name of journalism”. “The journalist has confessed that he was spying and that British forces had sent him for this purpose,” Dadullah said from an undisclosed location in Afghanistan.

  Taliban insist Italian journalist is a spy
  Rahimullah Yousafzai’s report about abduction of an Italian Journalist by Taliban. Contact has been established between the Taliban and colleagues of Italian journalist in their custody but former are adamant that the La Repubblica reporter is spy.

  Taliban urged to release journalist
  The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) on Tuesday expressed alarm at reports that an Italian journalist working in Afghanistan had been captured by the Taliban. In a press release, the non-profit organisation said that it had received reports that Daniele Mastrogiacomo, an Afghanistan-based correspondent for Italy’s La Repubblica, had lost contact with his newspaper on Sunday, a day before the Taliban released a statement from Kabul saying that it had seized a journalist from the paper on spying charges, along with his two Afghan assistants.

  Murder case against journalist: rally to be held today
  On the call of the Hyderabad Press Club, journalists of Qambar-Shahdadkot district will stage a rally in Qambar on Thursday to protest against registration of a murder case against Hadi Bakhsh Sangi, a cameraman of the KTN (Kawish TV Network) in Larkana and brother of slain KTN cameraman Munir Sangi. The Dari police have booked Hadi Bakhsh and his brother Muqeem Sangi in the case of murder of Munir Unnar who was killed on Airport Road here on February 15.

  TUJ election next month
  The NWFP chapter of the South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA) would hold elections of the Tribal Union of Journalists (TUJ) next month to end differences among journalists from Federally Administered Tribal Areas. The single elected TUJ would be recognised as the representative body of the tribal journalists who are presently divided into two groups. Safma would hold the elections at Peshawar Press Club on 8th April and voter’s lists would be displayed within two days at Peshawar Press Club, it was decided at a meeting headed by president SAFMA, NWFP Chapter, Rahimullah Yousafzai, at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday.

  Journalists asked for role to restore peace in Bajur
  Joint oath taking ceremony of office bearers of Bajaur Press Club and TUJ held in Bajaur. Grand Jirga was organized for the event while Political agent Shakeel Qadir was chief guest. He asked journalists to play their due role to restore peace in the agency. He stressed elders of agency to cooperate journalists for development of the agency.

  Removal of newspapers stalls criticized
  President Akhbar Faroshan Union Peshawar Jaffar Shah has criticized the action to remove newspaper stalls from main areas along G. T Road and different parts of the city in the name of encroachment. He threatened for protests if stalls were not restored. He termed the action as victimization against newspaper sellers.

  Radio series on women issues
  "The issue of honour killing is a serious problem in Pakistan. There is a dire need to take steps in order to stop this inhuman crime", said Tasneem Ahmer, Executive Director and Producer of UKS, a research, resources and publication centre on media, at a launching ceremony of a series of 10 radio programmes called 'Aurat, Ghariat Aur Qatl' here at a local hotel. She said the launch of the radio series was part of Uks continuous campaign on zero tolerance for violence against women and there could not be a more fitting time to launch it than on the International Women's Day.

  APNS provincial committee meeting in Quetta
  Provincial committee of APNS held its meeting in Quetta under chair of Syed Fasieh Iqbal. Session discussed media issues related to Balochistan. Advertising policy of government was criticised according to which a lump sum amout of 2 million was paid to a local newspaper. Meeting observed that newspapers of Balochistan are facing acute financial problems. But an non-local Daily in Quetta had been paid huge amount. It has proved discriminatory policy of government.

  Shujjat and Elahi enquire health of CNN correspondent
  PML Chief Chudhary Shujjat Hussain and CM Punjab Pervaiz Elahi enquired the health of CNN correspondent Mohsin Naqvi in local hospital in Lahore where he underwent an Angiography.
