CJ lauds media role in PSM case
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and other members of a larger bench of the Supreme Court lauded the media for the role it played for highlighting various issues, including the privatisation of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM).

156 illegal FM radio stations closed down in NWFP
Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has launched a synchronised and effective campaign for the closure of illegal FM Radio Stations in NWFP. For this purpose close coordination with the NWFP government, administration and police is being maintained and PEMRA invariably seeks their assistance.

PEMRA closes illegal FM radio station
A Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) inspection team led by a regional general manager raided a religious seminary in Jahangira, Nowshera district and confiscated equipment being used to run an illegal FM radio station. Javaid Iqbal Waseer, PEMRA regional general manager, told Daily Times on Wednesday that he received a complaint from Habibullah Khan, the Jehangira union council nazim, that Maulana Fatehullah and Maulana Islam were illegally running an FM radio station in a religious seminary located at Mohalla Touheedabad and inciting religious hatred and sectarian violence in the community.

CM suspends police surgeon, MLO for negligence
LARKANA: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Tuesday suspended two paramedical officials for negligence in discharge of their official duties. Police Surgeon CMC Hospital Dr Abdul Karim Bozdar and the hospital's Medico-Legal Officer (MLO) Dr Akhtar Daiyo were suspended for delaying issuance of medico-legal report of photojournalist Munir Ahmed Sangi, who was caught in crossfire between two tribes.Talking to journalists after condoling the death of the photojournalist, the chief minister also ordered an inquiry into the matter under the supervision of the director-general Health Services Sindh.
Govt told to confirm TV man is not in custody
The Sindh High Court asked the federal interior and defence secretaries on Wednesday to file affidavits that a Pakistani promoter of a Dubai-based television channel was not in the custody of any of the agencies working under their ministries. According to his wife, Munir Ahmed Mengal of ‘Baloch Voice' was whisked away by personnel of an unnamed federal agency from the Karachi airport on his arrival from Dubai on April 4.

FM Listening: Weekend disappointment
Usually weekend nights seem to be eternal when routine work does not end and I know that there is not going to be a chance to chill out. This happened last Saturday, as I tried to finish my assigned projects before 10 pm so I could go out with my siblings to chill out and enjoy the weather. However, that did not seem to happen. I needed something entertain me while I worked on my assignment. Watching TV or surfing the internet was out of the question, since they would divert my attention from my assignment.

Fresh notices in Taj Mahal film case
The Lahore civil judge here on Wednesday issued fresh notices to the respondents in the Taj Mahal film case for July 4, as only two defendants appeared before the court and extended the stay.Earlier, the court had restrained cable operators from screening Indian movie Taj Mahal through cable network and issued notices to all the defendants.
