New Pashto channel from August 14
The Pakistan Television Corporation is launching a new Pashto channel from its Peshawar centre in August. “The new channel is likely to be launched on Aug 14 by the president or the prime minister. Only a go-ahead from the top brass is awaited,” said an official. According to him, the estimated annual expenditure of the channel – Abaseen – will be Rs350 million.

Pakistan upgrading copyright laws
Pakistan has started upgrading its copyright laws with the help of World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) following pressure from trading partners particularly the United States to improve its negative copyright image.

Quake-hit radio station left to suffer
Nine months after earthquake, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation slow to help rebuild radio stations
The quake-stricken employees of Radio Muzaffarabad are still working in abject conditions due to an 'indifferent' attitude of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation towards their plight. Of the two buildings of the 150kw radio station, one was flattened and the other was rendered unusable by the Oct 8 quake which consequently brought its transmissions of to a grinding halt.
