Secy health to breif media today

The NWFP Secretary for Health, Abdus Samad Khan will brief media men about the forth coming round of polio eradication campaign to be run from 12th to 14th of the instant in the province at the Committee Room of Health Secretariat Peshawar on September 8, 2006 at 11.30 AM. The Health Secretary will highlight steps being taken to control polio in the province .He will also disclose arrangements initiated for the coming round. Representatives of the donor agencies will also speak on the occasion.

Sale of cassettes, CDs containing hate speeches:

NWFP govt orders police to delete terrorism charges

The NWFP government on Thursday removed terrorism charges against six shopkeepers arrested for selling cassettes, CDs and literature containing hate speeches and articles against the Shia community and the federal government.

Journalists urged to create awareness against TB

Provincial Manager TB Control Programme Dr Abdul Ghafoor has urged the journalist community of the district to play their due role in creating mass awareness against the TB so that the fatal disease could be eradicated from the district forever. This he said while addressing a media workshop arranged by TB Control Program for the local journalists here on Thursday.

TB awareness workshop

The provincial TB control programme on Thursday held a workshop for journalists at a local hotel in connection with the ongoing TB awareness week. Programme manager Dr Abdul Ghafoor, District TB Control Officer Dr Noorul Islam, representatives of WHO Dr Maqsood Ali Khan and Shandana Khisro read out their papers. The speeches were followed by group discussions with a view to achieving greater degree of awareness in backward and isolated Chitral district.

Workshop on media role conludes

The 2-day workshop on the role of media in promotion of science arranged by Pakistan Science Foundation and Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre (PASTIC) concluded at Pakistan Forests Institute Peshawar University. Scientists and media experts read out their papers in the workshop and put forth their recommendations for promotion of science and attracting the talent for a science oriented society.

Media cell for research planned

The Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) will set up a media cell to make public the scientific research, says PSF chairman Dr M.N. Butt. Speaking at the concluding session of a two-day workshop titled ‘Media and Science Awareness in the Knowledge Society' here on Thursday, he said PSF was seeking assistance and cooperation of the media for this purpose.
