Attackers shoot at The News staffer's son, nephew

A 17-year-old son of senior journalist of The News Shakeel Anjum — Amar Lasani — was shot at and injured along with his young cousin Qasim by three armed attackers outside his house in Rawalpindi Saturday evening. The attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, forcibly entered home of the journalist and pulled his son Amar Lasani and nephew Qasim outside at gunpoint. They started beating the boys with the butts of their guns and opened firing at them outside the house. As a result both received serious bullet and head injuries.

FM listening : Every consumer wastes Rs 50 per day

Every consumer in Pakistan wastes an average of Rs 50 a day, making it a collective loss of billions of rupees annually, it was said in "Sur Gian", a music programme of Mast FM 103, presented by Afaq Shah. The statistics was calculated by the Community Solidarity System (CSS), a non-governmental organisation working for the betterment and coordination of the Pakistani consumers.
