Publisher arrested
The printer and publisher of a local daily was arrested while copies of the newspaper and press were seized by the administration under the Prohibition of Qadianiat Ordinance. Police reportedly raided the offices of daily Al-Fazal, stated to be an organ of Jamaat Ahmadia, at Ziaul Islam press, Chenabnagar, 6 Km from here. Police seized the copies of the daily and arrested Mr Sultan, its printer and publisher.

Ahmedi newspaper office raided, two arrested
Police raided an Ahmedi newspaper office on Saturday and arrested a printer and a journalist, charging them with offences under the Anti Terrorism Act (ATA). Ahmedi representatives condemned the raid as harassment and an attack on press freedom.

Rawalpindi police yet to arrest two attackers of journalist's son
Rawalpindi police are yet to arrest the two absconding accused, who shot at the son and nephew of crime reporter 'The News' Shakeel Anjum Saturday evening. The high profile attack is expected to echo in the National Assembly here today (Monday). Police probe into attack on journalist's son
SSP Rawalpindi Saud Aziz has said according to the initial investigation the accused Bilal has said he attacked Amar Lasani, son of senior journalist Shakeel Anjum, because he refused to return his motorcycle. According to details, three attackers armed with latest weapons entered the house of the journalist pulled the two cousins outside the house and opened fire on both youngsters. The victims got severe injuries in head and other body parts.

‘US media should avoid blame game on terror war'
NEW YORK : Pakistan has urged the American media to avoid playing the "blame game", saying that Islamabad's record in combating terrorism speaks for itself. "We have killed or captured more than 680 foreign Al-Qaeda terrorists. We have banned all organisations that were suspected of involvement in terrorism", Mansoor Suhail, press minister at the Pakistan Mission to the United Nations, said in a letter published in The New York Times today.

US media asked to support Pakistan
Washington : Describing Pakistan as a “democratic country”, a senior Pakistani diplomatic official in a letter to the New York Times on Sunday, urged the US media to “support Pakistan's economic and social success, rather than playing the blame game.” Mansoor Sohail, press minister at Pakistan's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, asserted that Pakistan joined the coalition to fight terrorism because of its own conviction and vital national interest.

Radio to create awareness on population welfare
To create awareness among people about benefits of a small family and mother and child health, the Population Welfare Department will air 96 programmes of 20-minute each through the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation at a cost of over Rs 1.94 million, Punjab Population Welfare Minister Naseem Lodhi told a meeting Sunday.

PBC to broadcast programmes on family planning
In order to educate people about the benefits of small families and mother and child health, the Population Welfare Department will broadcast 96 20-minute programmes through Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation at prime time, Population Welfare Minister Naseem Lodhi said at a meeting she was presiding over, according to a press release.
