SAFMA to form Press Commission: Its inauguration in New Delhi on March 1 |

The South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA) will establish a Press
Commission that will be inaugurated in New Delhi, India on March 1. SAFMA
General Secretary Imtiaz Alam said this while speaking at a seminar titled
`Attacks on Journalists' at Lahore Press Club (LPC) Sunday. Among those who
addressed the seminar were columnist Manoo Bhai, senior journalists Aziz
Mazhar and Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, The Post Executive Editor Rashed Rehman,
LPC President Arshad Ansari and Khalid Farooqi.

Struggle for journalists rights, safety urged |
| |
The journalists have called for a country wide struggle against increasing
incidents of attacks on media people, their kidnapping by various government
agencies and murder of four of them this year. Speakers at a meeting jointly
held by South Asia Free Media Association, Punjab Union of Journalists and
Lahore press club here on Sunday emphasised the need for a joint action by
all stakeholders of the print and electronic media to protect their
rights...
