Militants ask FM station to leave Muzaffarabad
A militant organisation has threatened the FM 99 radio channel of dire consequences if it failed to wind up its operation in Muzaffarabad. Informed sources told Dawn that a threatening call was received by Producer News and Current Affairs Ishfaq Joya at his mobile phone from another mobile network.

Disappearance of another journalist indicative of worrying trend, says IFJ
The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has expressed its deep concern for the safety of journalists in Pakistan after news of another journalist's disappearance, possibly at the hands of authorities. Sindhi Daily Kawish correspondent, Mehruddin Mari, was last seen in Thatta on June 27, and according to the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), an IFJ affiliate, there are fears Mari has been detained by intelligence agencies for unknown reasons.

Body reviews Pemra bill
The Mediation Committee of Parliament on Tuesday reviewed the controversial Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Amendment Bill. The committee meeting was presided over by Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Sher Afgan Khan Niazi. The committee reviewed different clauses of the bill. It was decided on the occasion to invite all stakeholders to the next meeting of the committee scheduled for July 20.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durrani said on Tuesday that the ministries of information and youth affairs would soon launch a joint countrywide consultation process to get suggestions and recommendations on youth related issues.

He passed away on July 10, leaving behind a vacuum in Pakistani literary circles that can never be filled, because he represented so much to so many people.
