FM LISTENING | NGO’s and FM: raising awareness
In Pakistan a number of national and international NGOs are working. Most of these organisations are working on social issues with an objective to create awareness among the masses, in order to bring a positive change in the society. The working of these organisations for different societal concerns should be appreciated but the problem is the people for whom they are working are not aware of these organisations and their services. Like across the country there are NGOs' workings on women rights, dowry system, honour killing, poverty, gender related issues, child labour etc. To inform people about the projects and annual work of these NGOs they hold conferences, conduct workshops, seminars, and training programmes, publish magazines, booklets and so on. It's unfortunate though that these things remain beneficial for the literate people and useless for illiterate people especially those living in far flung areas.
