Effective steps to avoid mobile theft |
| |
The usage of mobile phones has become an integral part of everyday life and a majority of people today own at least one phone. Unfortunately, mobile phone snatching, too, has become a routine crime and every third consumer has fallen prey to snatchers. The main reason behind these thefts is that cellphones are easy to carry and can be grabbed without much effort. No prior planning is needed and mobiles have a very high resale value. Although measures such as registering mobile phones with law-enforcing agencies (LEA) at the time of purchase, and keeping a copy of the invoice at the time of selling or buying a phone, were expected to effectively reduce crime rates, all these efforts have proved fruitless.

In Malir many phones have been dead for 15 to 20 days due perhaps to some damage to underground cables. PTCL should take some serious steps to upgrade its service. Much needs to be done to meet the needs of the subscribers and provide them with quality services.
