  Media Protest
Media watchdog condemns ban on CNN journalists
Reporters Without Borders condemned on Friday the decision of the Pakistan government to deny journalists from US network CNN access to Lal Masjid. The media watchdog said on July 12, nearly 200 Pakistani and foreign journalists were allowed inside the mosque complex in Islamabad where fighting between the Army and the Islamic militants left nearly 100 people dead, but journalists from the Atlanta-based channel were kept away. It said the decision to discriminate against CNN staff followed a broadcast on the channel on July 7 of a documentary entitled ‘The threat within’, which dealt with the presence of the Taliban and Al Qaeda inside Pakistan. It said a crew from CNN was also refused access to a press conference given by the prime minister on July 10.

Lollywood divided over release of Indian film
The issue of the release of an Indian film, Kaafila, in Pakistan from July 29 has divided Lollywood into two groups. One group is in the favour of the release of the film while the other group is opposed to its screening in Pakistan. It is pertinent to mention here that Europe, America and Canada had also banned the release of anti-Pakistan films, as these could result in a communal fighting in those countries. Renowned distributor Satish Anand, who is the uncle of famous Indian film actress Juhi Chawla, is releasing this film in Pakistan.
