Civil awards for Rana Tahir, Saleh Zaafir
President General Pervez Musharraf will confer distinguished civil award ‘Tamgha Imtiaz' on two senior journalists of the Jang Group of Newspapers on 59th Independence Day of Pakistan here Sunday. They are Rana Tahir Mahmood, editor of the daily Jang, Rawalpindi , and Muhammad Saleh Zaafir, editor special reporting of the Jang group. Both of them have rendered meritorious services in the field of journalism in various positions.

Ground breaking next month, says Elahi
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, while announcing the master plan of the Journalists Colony, said the groundbreaking ceremony will be in the first week of September. He said this while talking with Provincial Law Minister Muhammad Raja Basharat on Sunday.

Journalists Colony plan approved
Punjab Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Local Bodies Muhammad Basharat Raja has said that Punjab Chief Minister Ch. Parvez Elahi has given approval to the master plan of the journalist's colony at Lohi Bher and in next fortnight he will lay-down the foundation stone of the project.

A Hollywood team making a movie about Daniel Pearl recently shot scenes in Karachi and Islamabad , as well as the countryside, without the permission of the government of Pakistan .

Ummah must have its own media, moot told
It is the most sacred responsibility of the Islamic movements to set up their own media organisations because without such a network, the Ummah could not defend itself from media campaign and propaganda by the western forces.
