Letter to Editor “PTV’s illegal move”
Omar Ali Khan, “Upon viewing the morning papers on Friday morning (October 12), I discovered a large and rather beautiful advertisement for PTV’s celebrations of the Pakistani cinema industry’s 60 years. What disappointed and shocked me was that their entire advert comprised of images that have been lifted from my personal collection of artwork accessible on my website. The website very clearly mentions that these images are owned privately and are copyrighted YET that didn’t appear to deter PTV from lifting their entire advert art from my website without giving the slightest credit for the work nor ever seeking permission to use my images. I am disgusted by this blatant theft by PTV and shall contemplate taking them to court over this violation. Whether justice is achieved or not is another issue altogether.”

  Television
National TV no more entertaining viewers by Sehrish Wasif
“There was a time when TV programs were considered as the best mode of entertainment on especial occasions like Eid. But now the trend of watching Eid television programmes is changing. It does not mean that people have stopped watching TV on Eid days but they do not like the programmes that are being broadcast from our national television. Most of the people are of the view that decrease in the interest of people watching the programmes of our national television channel is mainly because of the monotony of the programmes.”

Of TV and viewers by Hassnain Ghayoor
“For majority of people TV provides cheap entertainment, information and for that matter exposure to life at large. This is not an easily refutable argument though we can still disagree for criticise and the fact is that to refute this is as easy as to believe in it. First of all it is not a cheaper stuff. It costs a lot to watch TV if we only asses the impact of commercial breaks for our consumption and psychological. As they say that television corporations sell their audiences to the manufacturers of goods and services. It seems to be quite a persuasive argument and taking up this can help us go father even to say that man-a social animal- has become a consumer animal.”
