Only 75,000 local TV units produced in 2006-07: PEMA |

Local Television (TV) industry produced only 75000 units in 2006-07 against production of 935000 units a year earlier as the non-documented sector allegedly has started dominating the television market. Vice Chairman Pakistan Electronic Manufacturers Association (PEMA) Haroon Niazi stated this while briefing the media about the problems faced by the television producers. He said barring television industry the growth of all electronic products have registered a growth of 15-25 per cent during past three years. This, he added, belied logic as the demand projections by the industry experts' envisaged similar growth in television demand as well. He said based on those projections the local production of TV sets in 2006-07 should have ranged between 1.35 to 1.50 million.

Consumer court issues notice to mobile firm |

The district consumer court on Saturday issued notices to a multinational cell phone company and highways department for providing defective services. Complainant Malik Tajdin pleaded that a cellular company had announced some package for using SMS and when he used it he had to bear heavy financial loss due to defective service. The court issued notice to its regional manager, Haider Zaman, for July 19..
