Tribal journalists protest police harassment

The Tribal Union of Journalist (TUJ) on Monday accused intelligence and law enforcement agencies of harassing journalists working in the tribal areas, and demanded that the government provide them with security.

Cable TV operation resumes in Indian occupied Kashmir

Cable TV operators in Indian Kashmir have resumed operations after Mujahideen groups said they should ignore threats by other groups to halt broadcasts. The revolt-hit region's dominant group, Hizbul Mujahideen, and three other groups on Sunday asked the operators to resume programming.

Dawn Editor

Mr Tahir Mirza, the present Editor of Dawn, will be retiring with effect from next week. He will be succeeded as Editor of Dawn by Mr Abbas Nasir. Mr Mirza was Resident Editor in Lahore at the launch of the Lahore Dawn. Subsequently he served at various posts in Dawn including a stint as Dawn's correspondent in Washington before becoming Editor. Mr Mirza will continue to be associated with Dawn as Contributing Editor.

FM Listening : Mothers' Day special

I must appreciate the role FM channels are playing to create mass awareness about the World International Days through their special transmissions. Following the same pattern, last Sunday, Mothers' Day was celebrated by all FM channels.
