Two television camera operators beaten, television crew's van fired upon by angry mob
Supporters of a slain religious leader sprayed bullets on the van of a local television channel on 15 July 2006, in Karachi , the largest city in Pakistan . On 14 July, two cameramen from another television channel were beaten.
Masked armed activists at the funeral procession for religious leader Allama Hasssan Turabi were firing in the air and four bullets hit the van of GEO television channel. Many other journalists covering the procession also had to flee the area because of the shots.

Outraged mob fired on TV Van and beat the journalist
Angry at the eve while funeral procession of a religious figure sprayed bullets on the van of a local TV channel and also beat the camera person of another TV Channel on July 15, 2006. According to the media reports the outraged activist of a religious group fired four bullets on the GEO TV van amongst other violent actions. Report further said that cameraman of some media organizations had been subjected torture during the coverage of funerals of Shiite religious leader Allama Hassan Turabi.

KUJ condemns violence against journalists
The Karachi Union of Journalists has condemned the recent increase in incidents of violence against journalists. According to a press release, the KUJ urged political and religious parties to take effective steps to stop acts of violence by their workers against journalists.

PEMRA advises media to avoid violent scenes
Chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA) Iftikhar Rasheed directed the electronic media organizations to avoid showing violent scenes in their news bulletins and other programs, as they cast negative impacts on the society.

‘PTV promoting Pakistan 's culture abroad'
State Information Minister Senator Tariq Azeem has praised Pakistan television (PTV) for promoting Pakistani culture and traditional values across the world befittingly. The minister, who was chief guest during the 13th PTV award ceremony held at PTV headquarters in Islamabad Sunday night, felt proud in sharing with the audience that Pakistan's culture was very rich and a source of pride for the entire nation and reiterated his government's resolve in promoting domestic culture abroad.
