  Feedback | PTV’s predicament
Zaheer Bhatti comments, “Official electronic communication media have only functioned and performed well, in countries where governments ensure administrative, financial and editorial freedom to the functionaries, and where merit determined through an objective system is recognised and rewarded. Even though such an environment is rare, the media have made an impact where it exists, despite subtle policy regulation by the official hierarchy. BBC in the United Kingdom is a case in point where the equation has worked perfectly. Thoroughly conscious of its national obligations its bosses encourage nor countenance any interference from the government, and have the courage to quit under protest or failing to deliver.”

Friendly photos can land you in trouble
Mobile phones which have narrowed distances have also become gadgets used in the spread of shocking pictures and clips as an increasingly large number of girls are being fooled by their boy friends and even their female friends and relatives into striking objectionable poses for their mobile phones cameras. Many nude videos clips and pictures of girls of respectable families are being sold as mobile phone clips on CD at various ‘mobile phone’ markets located in Saddar and other areas. The Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS) offered at dirt cheap rates by cellular companies has also contributed to rapid spread of objectionable material and this has gone largely unnoticed.
