  Journalist Qalandar free
  Journalist Suhail Qalandar and his friend, who had been kidnapped 50 days ago, were freed on Wednesday from a house near the Shinko area of Bara tehsil. Their release came as a result of joint operation launched by the Political Administration of Khyber Agency, Mehsud scouts and Khasadar force.

  Missing journalist recovered
  Tribal political authorities on Wednesday recovered Daily Express Resident Editor Sohail Qalandar and his friend Niaz Mohammad from Bara in Khyber Agency after 53 days in captivity. “The kidnappers kept me in a mountainous area and also tortured me. I was asked to sign an agreement to stop writing against kidnappers, smugglers and anti-state elements in NWFP and FATA,” Qalandar told a gathering of politicians, social workers, journalists and artists, who had gathered at the Peshawar Press Club to welcome him.

  Qalandar recovered from Khyber Agency
  Peshawar-based journalist Sohail Qalandar and his friend Niaz Muhammad, abducted some 52 days ago from the suburbs of Peshawar were recovered from a remote village of Khyber Agency Wednesday. According to the details, the political administration of Khyber Agency with the efforts of Mahsud Scouts conducted a raid in Shinko area of Bara and recovered the missing journalist along with his friend. During the raid the kidnappers made good their escape from the scene. Later on Sohail Qalandar and his friend Niaz Muhammad were brought to Peshawar. Thousands of people gathered in front of Peshawar Press Club to welcome the recovered journalist.

  The Mehsud Scouts Wednesday successfully recovered daily Express Resident Editor Sohail Qalandar and his friend Niaz Mohammad in a major operation from the suburbs of Bara in Khyber Agency.

  Kidnapped journalist recovered after 51 days
  Sohail Qalandar, a Peshawar journalist, kidnapped in early January, returned home safe and sound on Wednesday. It was a great day for the journalists' community of Peshawar when the resident editor of a Urdu language daily along with a friend, Niaz Muhammad, was recovered from a hideout in Khyber Agency during an operation carried out by the political authorities and Mahsud Scouts.

  Nawaz Raza welcomes the recovery
  PFUJ President Nawaz Raza has welcomed the recovery of Sohail Qalander. He has expressed gratitude to Federal Information Minister for his keen interest in efforts for recovery. Recovery will have cordial impacts on government press relations.

  Rawalpindi Islamabad Press Club meeting
  Governing body meeting of Rawalpindi Islamabad Press club held in camp office Islamabad. Mushtaq Minhas chaired the meeting. It was decided that computerized cards will be issued to members by 31st March. Three member committee of senior journalists was set up to probe allegation against allotments in journalist's colony. President press club told that efforts are in final stage to get land for press club in Islamabad.

  Folk artistes, families complain of non-payment
  More than two dozens of singers, folk artistes, Sughars and their families have not received grant from the Sindh Culture and Tourism Department for a whole year. They included the families of classical singer late Ustad Gulzar Ali Khan, late Ustad Rasool Bux Bhat, late Ustad Seengar Ali Saleem, late Ustad Imdad Bhat and Hameed Ali Sehwani and Sufi singers, Sughars including Sohrab Faqir, Shershah, Bhooral Faqir Bhatti and Faqir Ghulam Hussain. Singers of Sachal Sarmast’s shrine, including Faqir Ghulam Hussain and Bhooral Faqir and relatives of late artists told journalists on Wednesday that they had not received the grant for a whole year.

  Newsman grieved
  Kaniz Fatima, mother of APP Bureau Chief in Karachi Rashid Ali Khan, passed away here on Wednesday morning. She was 75. She leaves behind three sons and five daughters. She was laid to rest in Gizri graveyard.
