  Letter to editor “Mature media”
Ijaz Tabbsum says “With relative inexperience in dealing with the watchdog role of a free media, the government's nervousness has been exposed in its taking two news channels off air for showing footage of police manhandling of lawyers, its banning of a television talk show, and the ransacking of the offices of Geo and The News in Islamabad. However, the president very judiciously realised the grave mistake committed by police personnel and asserted that those responsible should be brought to book. It is hoped that the government will now ensure that journalists are not again targeted for simply carrying out their professional duties.”
