PM media team swells
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz’s
media team is relatively huge but the government’s
defence is that the print and electronic media
in Pakistan too is bloated as it was never before.
In the past, there used to be only one press secretary
leading the Prime Minister’s
media team in the PM Secretariat. However, the
incumbent premier additionally keeps with him
one media consultant and one media advisor as
well. Even otherwise the official media team under
the press secretary also has more officers than
before.

The obvious image making machine is the media.
Some intelligent commentators will make the distinction
between media representation (constructed) and
popular culture (a philosophy or expressions of
an actual way of life). This has eluded the government,
whose concept of a nation's image seems to be
modelled on western concepts of modernity, with
all the attendant economic systems.
