Younger brother of journalist Haytatullah who had been murdered after being kidnapped for six months by unknown people has also been gunned down after being kidnapped by unknown armed persons here Friday.

Missing journalist freed:

A local journalist, Saeed Sarbazi, missing since Wednesday, returned home on early Saturday morning. Mr Sarbazi, allegedly in the custody of some intelligence agency, was left blindfolded on the Karsaz Road after returning him his personal effects, including cellphones.

MEDIA PROTEST

RIUJ protests murder of Hayatullah's brother:

The Rawalpindi and Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) on Sunday rallyed against the killing of Hayatullah Khan's brother. Hayatullah's six-year-old brother, Muhammad Bashir, was killed by unidentified gunmen when he was going to school.

SAFMA denounces violence against journalists

The South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA) expressed serious concern over the abduction of Saeed Sarbazi, senior sub editor at the Business Recorder in Karachi, and the maltreatment of journalists at the hands of policemen in Lahore.

Benazir slams journalist's disappearance

Benazir Bhutto, the former prime minister and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) chairwomen, has expressed concern over the alleged disappearance of Saeed Sarbazi, a Karachi-based journalist, and demanded the government release him immediately.

The South Asian Free Media Association (Safma) on Friday expressed serious concern over the kidnapping of Saeed Sarbazi, senior subeditor of Business Recorder, in Karachi, and police brutality against TV journalists in Lahore, says a press release.

THE ban placed by the Punjab government on various ARY channels has exposed just how ‘free' the media is in Pakistan . One had hoped that after the Pemra Ordinance the media would be allowed to operate free from the control of the government.

Newsmen flays THQ hospital doctor's attitude

Journalists community has strongly condemned the unbecoming behaviour of a doctor at the THQ hospital here. In this regard, a 12-member delegation of the journalists comprising Abid Ch, Arshad Nasir, Umair Ahmad, Mian Iftikhar, Saqib Mahmood, Syed Ghias, Tanveer Hussain, Malik Nazir, Iftikhar Ansari, Khurshid Ahmad, Haji Sadiq and Sarfraz Hassan held a meeting with the THQ hospital medical superintendent Dr M Munir Subhani in his office on Saturday and apprised him of the alleged ill-attitude demonstrated by Dr Waseem Zafar Cheema towards senior journalist, Abid Chaudhry.

PTV works sans sound system

Pakistan Television (PTV) has still no sound system of its own. Whenever there is a musical programme, sound system is always arranged from outside which costs much to PTV. Quite recently a function was arranged in honour of Pakistan Television (PTV) Managing Director Yousuf Baig Mirza. As usual, the sound system was brought from outside and it cost about Rs 20,000.
