CPNE meeting
A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) will be held on August 28 (Monday) in Quetta to discuss government-press relations in Balochistan and other parts of the country. According to a press release issued on Saturday, President CPNE Arif Nizami will chair the meeting where Governor Balochistan Owais Ahmed Ghani would give a briefing to the editors of national newspapers on situation of press in the province.

Officials served notice to stop launch of Musharraf's book
Advocate MD Tahir has sent legal notice to the National Assembly speaker, Cabinet Division federal secretary and the federal law secretary to stop the launch of President General Pervez Musharraf's book 'In the Line of Fire'. The lawyer in his notice has raised various questions asking whether the Constitution allowed a serving general to write a book.

Dr Waqar new APP Lahore BC
Dr Waqarullah Chaudhry Saturday assumed charge as Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) Lahore bureau chief. Dr Waqar, who has a PhD degree in Mass Communication, replaced Syed Fawad Hasmi, who has been made APP foreign correspondent in London , the United Kingdom .

This year's torrential downpour has had a devastating effect in NWFP that is now being called by some as the ' Northwest Flooded Province '. Today, people are shelterless and above all vulnerable to epidemic diseases. When the floods hit Punjab , the media extensively covered it but in the case of NWFP this is not happening.

Yet for the Federal Communications Commission, rewriting the ownership limits for television and radio stations has been a labour fit for Sisyphus.
