Musharraf assures freedom of media
President General Pervez Musharraf has renewed his firm commitment to the freedom of the press and declared that the government would facilitate access to information.

PM wants media to be objective
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Saturday called upon the country's media to exhibit objectivity and balanced approach in their news and views.
“When a story is published here, it goes all around the world with a certain impact. There should be a balance in articles, views and write-ups, particularly on the editorial pages”, the PM said while talking to a delegation of All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) led by Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman here at the PM House. Aziz said it was very important to double-check the facts before publishing a story.

Journalists to get stickers for travel in SARRC region.

Govt may exempt film industry from tax
In order to promote the Pakistan 's film industry, the federal government is considering to completely exempting the film industry from income tax on the import of equipment, machinery used in filmmaking in the upcoming budget, sources told The Post on Saturday.

Journalists to protest against police torture
JOURNALISTS' associations including Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist (PFUJ), Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ) and Lahore Press Club (LPC) have decided to stage sit-in protest at Faisal Chowk outside Punjab Assembly on Monday against police torture on journalists performing their official duties. The decision was taken during a meeting attended by representatives of PFUJ, PUJ and LPC Saturday.

Now, a pen inspired by Da Vinci
Best-selling novel and controversial film The Da Vinci Code has inspired pen maker Dante Del Vecchio to make a new $1,600 pen, which he is handing out to select celebrities at the Cannes Film Festival. Visconti, who came up with the idea for the handcrafted pen after reading Dan Brown's book, felt Cannes would be the ideal place to launch it. The pens have a hidden numbered code that will help solve a riddle.
