Grant for press club
Jan Jamali, deputy chairman Senate, and renowned businessman and social worker Malik Tabarak Hussain Bari has announced a grant of Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively for the Rawalpindi/Islamabad Press Club. The announcement was made in a reception given in honour of the newly-elected office bearers of the press club Sunday by leading business personality of the twin cities Malik Hussain Bari.

Arab journalist attacks extremist thinking
“Extremism is a form of political activity that rejects the principles of parliamentary democracy. Extremist ideology and practices are based on intolerance, exclusion, xenophobia, anti-Semitism and ultra nationalism,” according to a leading Arab journalist.

Addressing the 18th awards ceremony of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS), President General Pervez Musharraf laid great stress on the freedom of the press. Is entertainment ‘haram'?
The Punjab governor, Lieutenant-General (r) Khalid Maqbool, was addressing a psychologists' conference in Lahore when he touched on the problem of entertainment in society, which is just as well because many of our psychological ills spring from our ideological stringencies banning entertainment in the name of religion.
