Opposition seeks debate in Senate on media reports

Oppo-sition senators belonging to the Democratic Alliance have submitted adjournment motions on various issues, including that of press freedom, for debate in the forthcoming Senate session commencing from August 2. Parliamentary secretary of the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) Izhar Amrohvi told Dawn on Friday that through one motion the opposition members had sought a debate on the issue of press freedom with reference to a recently-issued survey report stating that 48 journalists had so far become victims of violence and harassment in the past six months.

Indian TV channels banned in Pak

Pakistan has banned transmission of Indian TV channels, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday. " Pakistan has banned the transmission of Indian TV channels. The ban on Indian news channels is strictly enforced, in particular," Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi said in reply to a question.

Jang, Geo and Mindshare sign agreement

The Jang Group, Geo Television and Mindshare (on behalf of Unilever Pakistan ) signed a three-year strategic partnership agreement on July 27 for the Lux Style Awards. Sarmad Ali, Managing Director Marketing Jang Group and Sohail Ansar, Chief Executive Officer Mindshare signed the agreement.
