Institute for Urdu Informatics soon
Institute for Urdu Informatics is an important need of the era and it will be soon established. It is the need of the time that an institute of Urdu Informatics in public sector should enhance and boost the localisation activities already being rendered in the world of business. Cabinet Secretary Ejaz Raheem expressed these view at display of “Pak Nastaleeq” font developed by Centre of Excellence for Urdu Informatics, National Language Authority Islamabad.

Little choice for TV viewers
Thousands of people of Landi Kotal are deprived of additional television channels as the lone TV booster installed in the area offers only the national hook-up. The 100 watts transmitter was installed at Top Sar in 1990 which telecast PTV-1 programmes for 19 hours. Initially, the transmitter was installed in a mobile van, but was later moved to a building.

Newsmen complain to CM against Punjab Environment minister
The local newsmen have lodged a protest with Punjab chief minister against the rowdy behaviour of Punjab Environment Minister Mukhdoom Ishfaq Ahmad with them during the FA/FSc result declaring ceremony. Journalists harassed for taking photographs of Maoists
Dhruva Kumar Rawal, secretary of FNJ Nuwakot branch and editor of the monthly "Gatishil", and Raju Mitra Khanal, correspondent of the daily newspaper "Gorkhapatra" and sub editor of the weekly "Naya Ruprekha", were harassed and detained for nearly 15 minutes by Maoists for having taken photographs of plain-clothed Maoists without their permission. The incident took place at around 2:30 p.m. (local time) on 24 August 2006

Tamil newspaper editor killed in Jaffna
A Tamil newspaper editor and former member of parliament was killed outside his home on the besieged Jaffna Peninsula late Sunday, international and local media reported. Sinnathamby Sivamaharajah, managing director of the Tamil-language Namathu Eelanadu newspaper, was shot dead in Vellippalai. Police are investigating the murder, according to news reports. The motive for the killing is unclear.
