Photojournalist killed in crossfire

A young photographer of a Sindhi-language daily, Muneer Ahmed Sangi, was killed in crossfire during a gun battle between the men of Abro and Unnar tribes near Baqapur village in Samaee Unner village of Larkana Taluka in the jurisdiction Taluka police station on Monday. Muneer was shooting the gun battle.

FST declares two PTV appointments legal

The Federal Services Tribunal (FST) has declared the appointments of two PTV officials legal, rejecting the contention made by three other PTV employees. The appellants, Muhammad Sarwar Munir Rao, Hamid Saeed Rajput and Azhar Masood, had moved the FST against the appointments of Ihsan Qadir Hashmi as director news & current affairs and that of Quatrina Hosain as chief editor news at PTV center, Islamabad .

Farewell to Indian Press Attache

Dr AVS Ramesh Chandra, Counsellor (Press and Information) High Commission of India on Monday hosted a reception at his residence to bid farewell to Kamal Parvez, AttachT (Press) and introduce Dr Noorul Hasan to the media persons. It was a cordial get-together where all the journalists tried to reach on time so that they could know about the latest between Pakistan and India .

The Music Board for the 5th Lux Style Awards met in Karachi to shortlist nominees for the best music album, best music video and best live act of 2005, sources told Daily Times.

Billboard collapses

Another billboard collapsed in Liberty Market at 3am during rain on Monday. However, there was no casualty reported as there was no activity in the area at that time. The board landed in an adjacent park. Earlier, a big signboard had collapsed in the market in a dust storm last week, killing one and injuring two people.
