Minister forms committee to probe incident
The Peshawar Press Club (PPC) Thursday lodged an FIR with the East Cantonment police station against Provincial President of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid Engineer Amir Muqam, PML-Q Women Wing President Nighat Orakzai MPA and the heads of youth, labour and student wings of the party for attacking the club building to thwart a news conference being held by the members of PML-Q forward bloc.

Case registered against minister, leaguers
Dozens of people, including journalists, sustained wounds Thursday when a large number of armed activists of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League attacked and ransacked the Peshawar Press Club after their failure to prevent the party dissidents from holding a press conference.

PML workers storm press club beat up newsmen
Activists of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League attacked the Peshawar Press Club on Thursday apparently to foil a news conference there by some dissident members of the party. The management of the club lodged a complaint against provincial PML president and federal minister Amir Muqam, provincial information secretary of the party Nighat Orakzai and heads of League's youth, labour and students wings, for the attack.

Information ministry's website launched
State Minister for Information Tariq Azeem on Thursday launched Information Ministry's new look website at a simple and brief function held at the old USIS building. In a brief speech, on the occasion, Minister Tariq Azeem told the gathering that he had looked at the revamped website at his Ministry office early morning “and it looked good.”

Court seeks whereabouts of missing persons
Ten petitions agitating the alleged arrest and detention of Abdur Rauf Sasoli, deputy secretary-general of the Jamhoori Watan Party, Salim Baloch, JWP vice-president, Saeed Brohi, Karachi JWP chief, 20-year-old Affan Laghari, Liaquat Hussain Naiyer of Pasban-i-Aza and another Shia leader, Munir Mengal of Dubai-based TV channel ‘Baloch Voice', (Abdul) Rehman Dakait and other came up before a division bench, comprising Justices Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Mohammad Athar Saeed.

Responsible journalism
President Musharraf in my view is far better than the rest, especially Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif. Yet it is really disheartening to see that some of our national leading and responsible newspapers are doing journalism in a manner as if there is an Israeli set-up in Islamabad .
