A daily review of media coverage of media and communications issues

ARTICLE:

Rawalpindi replete with billboards

The city over the last few years has virtually been plagued by thousands of over-sized billboards erected along all the busy roads, business centers and their rooftops. The commercial aspect aside, these billboards have only added to the ugliness of the city where multi-storied plazas are sprouting up even in the residential areas. Driving along the Murree Road from Faizabad to Saddar, both sides of the busiest city road are virtually encapsulated by these huge billboards. "Already the city is so much polluted and when one tries to look round, while stuck in traffic, one cannot but only gaze at these unattractive metal advertisements which are more of an eyesore than anything else," says Mohsin Gillani, an environmentalist.
