APNS asks Punjab govt to give protection to media community |
| |
All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) has expressed concern and worry over increasing law and order situation especially in Punjab. APNS has stressed Punjab government to provide protection to media community. Qazi Asad Abid said that the government should probe cases in which media community were robbed, torched, and harassed.

Acting Governor NWFP Justice Tariq Pervaiz Khan has congratulated M. Riaz on his election as President of Peshawar Press Club. He has also congratulated the cabinet colleagues of Mr M. Riaz. In his message the Governor has expressed the confidence that new cabinet would come up to expectations of journalist community.

Muhammad Riaz Khan, the Press Club Presidential Candidate along with his full panel secured unprecedented victory in the Peshawar Press Club (PPC) election for 2007, by defeating the democratic panel and its nominee for president's office, Saiful Islam Saifi. Muhammad Riaz Khan, Bureau Chief of Nawa-e-Waqt, defeated Saiful Islam Saifi of Al-Jazeera TV by a clear-cut majority as the prior grabbed 150 votes while the later could get 89 votes. The president elect Muhammad Riaz pledged that he along with his team would work day and night on his panel agenda of approving housing colony for Peshawar based journalist within six months.
