A nephew of CM's advisor tortures, humiliates reporter
Hyderabad , August 30 2006: Waderas and other people who somehow managed to grab positions in the system of local bodies, have lost their minds because of absolute power, especially in remote areas. A reporter Umer Soomro of Dhoro Naro, a town, hardly 15 kilometres from Umerkot, a district being ruled by the disciples of Pir Pagara, was ruthlessly beaten and humiliated as his eyebrows was removed.

Brother of BBC journalist killed
The 15-year-old brother of a BBC reporter has been killed in Pakistan 's tribal region of South Waziristan . Taimur Khan, brother of Dilawar Khan Wazir, was found with severe head wounds in the town of Wana on Wednesday after going missing on Tuesday night. He later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. Officials say it is not clear who carried out the attack or why.

BBC reporter's brother killed in Pakistani tribal area
The teenage brother of a BBC correspondent was found murdered today in South Waziristan, a violent and lawless tribal region along Pakistan 's border with Afghanistan . Taimor Khan, 16, brother of Dilawar Wazir, an Urdu language reporter for the BBC, was abducted in the town of Wana on his way home from school on Tuesday, and his body was discovered near the same area early today.

15-year-old brother of a BBC reporter was kidnapped and shot dead in South Waziristan , the broadcaster and a security official said Wednesday. Taimur Khan, younger brother of journalist Dilawar Wazir, was kidnapped Tuesday after leaving for home from school in Wana, the main town in South Waziristan , and his bullet-riddled body was found in the same area Wednesday, a security official said on the condition of anonymity because he was unauthorized to speak to media.

Journalist's brother killed in Wana
A 14-year-old brother of Dilawar Khan Wazir, correspondent of Daily Dawn and BBC Urdu Service in the South Waziristan Agency, was killed by unidentified assailants in Wana on Wednesday. Taimoor, a student of class VII, was kidnapped while he was going to his Darvish Public School .

Radio sets distributed in quake-hit areas
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has completed distribution of 10,000 multi-power radio sets in the areas affected by last year's earthquake to help keep the survivors informed on issues affecting them. The sets donated by Internews are run on dynamo, solar, battery and electric power. They feature AM, FM and shortwave bands with a flash light, thermometer, siren, storage compartment and compass.

The UN refugee agency has distributed 10,000 multi-power radio sets in the earthquake-affected areas of AJK and NWFP to help keep quake survivors informed of issues affecting them. “The multi-power radio set distribution is part of UNHCR and its partners' endeavors to maximise the information outreach to the earthquake-affected population of Pakistan ,” said Kilian Kleinschmidt, UNHCR's Senior Emergency Coordinator, says a press release issued here on Wednesday.
